One&Only Cape Town: A Celebration of Modern Luxury in South Africa

Discover the Iconic New Redesign of One&Only Cape Town.

One&Only Cape Town, located in the heart of the beautiful V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa, has recently undergone an extensive redesign that celebrates the city’s modernity while staying true to its African roots.

The refurbishment covers all 133 rooms and suites, the entrance lobby, the Vista Bar and Lounge, and the landscaping.

The new design is a fresh and vibrant spin on ultra-luxurious accommodation, inspired by the local landscape and culture. The redesign incorporates shapes, textures, and colours pulled from both the city and the region, including the topography of Table Mountain and the city’s urban mythology.

Views of Table Mountain are always present.

Anne Scott, the general manager of One&Only Cape Town, said, “This is an incredibly exciting project for the One&Only Cape Town team and a testament to our confidence in the positive future direction of South African tourism. We’ve proudly incorporated local suppliers and artisans to create something magical – paying homage to African culture while retaining the innate One&Only ultra-luxury ethos.”

The Interiors

The interiors of the guest rooms boast warm lighting and earthy colors, using fabric inspired by traditional Northern African mud cloth to create an authentically African welcome. The living spaces blend together a palette of deep browns and warm earth tones with authentic African patterns and imagery.

Throughout the building, expect a delicate blend of metals and minerals, ultimately culminating in a sensual meeting of modern and tradition, incorporating strands of life from the Cape Kelp Forest, exquisite African patterns, and works by local artists.

Local Artists and Artisans

One&Only has collaborated with local artists and artisans to create a property of unrivalled beauty and authenticity in its reflection of its setting. Johanny Twala, a local artist, created structural ink line mountain contour drawings of Lions Head, Signal Hill, and Table Mountain feature in the Marina Rise suits, while Claude Chandler’s Table Mountain-inspired artworks feature in the lounges.
